Playa Hermosa

Playa Hermosa

Our location in Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste puts us in the center of some of the best diving in the area, plus it is a great central location for visiting Costa Rica’s various volcanoes, zip line, surfing, fishing and horseback riding attractions.

Some of our favorite places to visit are Arenal Volcano in Parque Nacional Volcan Arenal, the Palo Verde wetlands in Parque Nacional Palo Verde, as well as the Monteverde cloud forest.

Palo Verde

Parque Nacional Palo Verde

Palo Verde National park is a bird and nature lover’s paradise where one will see many species of migratory birds in addition to monkeys, crocodiles, iguanas, bats and all kinds of other wetland flora and fauna.

Rincon de la Vieja

Volcan Rincon de la Vieja

Parque Nacional Rincon de la Vieja is only a couple of hours away by car and is not only a beautiful drive up, but there are many activities everyone can enjoy. There are canopy tours, horseback riding, hiking, waterfalls, hot springs, boiling mud pits, massages and more.

Laguna Arenal

Laguna Arenal

Parque Nacional Volcan Arenal is a bit further away from the beach, but well worth the trip. The drive is absolutely beautiful and as you come around the lake – Laguna Arenal – the views of the volcano are majestic. This volcano is in a constant state of erupting. Sometimes its summit is shrouded in clouds or rain (after all, it IS a rain forest) and you can always hear it rumbling. When the cloud cover lifts, you’ll see the perfect cone of Arenal Volcano. There are many nearby establishments – for tourists and travelers alike – where one may enjoy tropical gardens, butterfly gardens, hot springs, canopy tours, horse back riding, water falls, ziplining and more.

Playa Hermosa Sunset

After diving you could arrange for an afternoon of fishing or a sunset sailing trip in the Papagayo Gulf. Or you can charter a boat to take you to Witch’s Rock and Ollie’s Point for a fun day of surfing. You can also combine a surfing and fishing trip, or make it a dive & surf trip plus fishing.

Surfing Witch’s Rock

For fishing and surfing, we recommend North Pacific Tours. They offer private and customized surfing, snorkelling, fishing and sunset tours. Their fishing tours include bottom, coastal, fly and casting. For surfing they go out to Ollie’s Point or the oh-so-popular Witch’s Rock.

North Pacific Tours is fully licensed, insured and their boat is a registered fishing and surfing boat.
